San Diego State Men's Basketball Coach Steve Fisher Retires – NBC 7 San Diego


San Diego State University (SDSU) Men’s Basketball coach Steve Fisher has announced his retirement. 

The iconic coach, who led the team to countless victories, made the announcement at a press conference on Tuesday. 

“San Diego State is my legacy,” Fisher said. “I’m an Aztec.”

Longtime assistant Brian Dutcher will step in as his replacement.

Fisher said he will not completely dissapear from the program: he will still have an active role in the program, he said. 

“That’s important to me,” he said. “I want to be here.”

In his time at the university, Fisher guided the Aztecs to six NCAA tournament victories and eight postseason NIT wins, according to SDSU officials.
